Tzuri Gueta and his adventure in design is coming to Hamburg. This fabulous Mensch, designer, artist, craftsman, scientist, explorer and visionary could be easily described as a "hard man to label", but I'll try it my way with tongue-in-cheek :

" An optimist sees the glass half full. The pessimist sees the glass half empty.
The chemist see the glass completely full, half in the liquid state and half in the vapor state. "

Or- , " In school one day, the teacher decided that in science class she would teach about the elements. So she stood in the front of the class and said, "Children, if you could have one raw element in the world what would it be?"

Little Jacob raised his hand and said, "I would want gold, because gold is worth a lot of money and I could buy a Porsche."

The teacher nodded and called on little Wolfram.

Little Wolfram said, "I would want platinum, because platinum is worth more than gold and I could buy a Rolls Royce. "

The teacher smiled and then called on Little Tzuri.

Little Tzuri stood up and said, "I would want Silicone."

The teacher said, "Why Tzuri?"

And Tzuri responded by saying, "Because I want to make sure that the people of the world realize there is so much more to Silicone then just a valley in California, a certain Mr.Gates, or heaven forbid, "implants mammaires"...

Tzuri Gueta, Designer, Creator of Textiles & fashionable Accessoires is coming to Hamburg and we are very excited.

Spot lighting the artist: " After earning a degree in textile engineering at Shenkar College in Israel, Tzuri Gueta arrived in Paris in 1996 and went to work for Trend Union, a trend forecasting agency founded by the legendary priestess of style Li Edelkoort.

Then he met Thierry Mugler. It was the first step on the way to success and a real interchange developed between the two men. Since then, there have been many fruitful collaborative projects with the Haute Couture industry including the fashion houses of Christian Lacroix, Jean Paul Gaultier, Givenchy, Dior and Armani.

At the same time Gueta pursued his quest for material. One encounter was to prove particularly decisive: SILICONE. It quickly became his material of choice. He invented a technique that he called “lace fed with silicone”( Link Text ) and took out a patent for the method. Spurred on by this impetus, he founded a company, Silka Design, and began to produce his own line of jewelry made of a mixture of textile and silicone. These pieces were imbued with such an innovative spirit that they almost immediately won over designers at the vanguard of fashion as well as venues dedicated to artistic creation, such as the Printemps du Design boutique at the Centre Pompidou in Paris and the MoMA store in New York.

But the sensitive, organic and futuristic world of Tzuri Gueta is not restricted to textiles and fashion. The multi-faceted artist’s explorations in design earned him the Grand Prix de la Création awarded by the City of Paris; and the adventure continued into the territory of art with a one-man exhibition at the Tel Aviv Museum of Modern Art.

The latest of Tzuri Gueta’s many hats to date is that of gallery owner. To celebrate his tenth year in France, Tzuri Gueta has opened his own workshop cum gallery under the arches of the Viaduc des Arts – a prestigious place that is sure to continue to spark heaps of enthusiasm. For Hilde and I it is always a must-see when we are in Paris.

The exhibition starts on Mai 25, 2014 and ends on June 14, 2014. We would be delighted to have you come visit ( Link Text us if you happen to be in Hamburg!
