Cave vaccam! Though the country's growth engine may get smeared with manure on occassions and lost in detours - but once you check under it’s hood it turns out to be much more powerful than it looks. To me it was for sure.
The colour and romance of Rajasthan, in both its unity and diversity, was the focus of our three week Magic Carpet Ride Adventure Trip through Rajasthan and was superbly organized and put together by our good friend and noted travel guru/lecturer Mr. Alfred Roever from Kassel, Germany.
The three-week introduction into the colorful desert region’s history, religious celebrations, rituals, architecture and art - and most of all - to the indomitable spirit of the people we got to meet in the process, made it into another Roever Classic. I tip my turban to you Alfred. Kudos.
Traveling on Indian roads is an almost hallucinatory potion of sound, spectacle and experience. It is frequently heart-stopping, sometimes hilarious, mostly exhilarating but always unforgettable. ( and when you are in it, dangerous ! )
Just imagine this scenario: Cows, elephants, heavy trucks, official cars, camels, light trucks, buffalo, jeeps, ox-carts, private cars, motorcycles, scooter, autorickshaws, pigs, pedal rickshaws, goats, bicycles (goods-carrying ), handcarts, bicycles ( passenger-carrying ), dogs, pedestrians - and you are right smack in the middle of it all!
Nope! Not a problem for our wonderful bus driver Mr. Izbal Singh from the Indebo India Tour Company in Delhi who handled our bus ( and our lives ) with care. Truly the Paganini of the Indian Highway System. Schukria from all of us!
